At First Sight

Love at first sight
Turns on like a light
Quickly it ignites
Like a match,
a shot,
a fire.
Consuming all it contains
In sinister flames
Until burnt black
Love fades
And like ash flies away…
Real love starts slow
As a sliver, a glow
Then it grows
Like a beam,
a ray-
of the sun
at the break of dawn.
Gradually filling the rooms and streets
With warmth and heat
Until Glowing bright as noon
Love matures
And forever endures
Did I love you at first sight, dearest?
Oh, no…
no…
no…
But the love that grew slowly
Has a greater glow
It fills every room,
every street
In my soul.
